Cristel is originally from Romania and received his M.S. degree in technological physics from the University of Bucharest. His field of expertise is in tissue mimicking materials and phantom design for various medical imaging technologies. Before joining the academic staff in the Department of Medical Physics at UW, Cristel was for more than 20 years Lead Creative Scientist in the medical device industry. His research interest is in developing materials and phantoms that can be used to improve ultrasound systems performance.
Hobbies: Cristel is a semi-professional artist and a passionate soccer player.
