Program: Medical Physics
Alex received her bachelor’s degree in physics in 2020 at Brigham Young University and enrolled in the Medical Physics PhD program University of Wisconsin that year. Having earned a master’s degree in medical physics, she is now working toward her doctoral degree. Alex is interested in using envelope statistics as a quantitative ultrasound technique to explore tissue microstructure, specifically to better understand changes in the uterine cervix related to preterm birth. She also engages with the community in science events as co-chair of the Department of Medical Physics’ graduate student outreach committee.
Hobbies: In her free time, Alex enjoys bouldering, gardening, and exploring Madison along with its surrounding natural environment. During long Wisconsin winters, she likes to stay warm by drinking tea and doing fiber arts.
